Odile: Marcline I have something important to say.I don't know how you will receive it but I don't want you get angry or alter.Pay attention I hope that you listen because I will not repeat this again.

Marcline: what happen mommy? you look really sad and hopeless. My brothers and I disgust you with something?            

Odile: no ,I'm just feeling a little bit sick  and worried so don't worry you're such wonderful kids I love with all my heart ,that's not the matter this moment sweetie .Marcline do you remember when I told you that all mothers in the whole world must be loved, respected, serviced and maintained by their good and lovely sons?

Marcline: yes, I clearly remember that from one dinner some nights ago, what happen with that  mommy?

Odile: well now it is my turn to apply that rule in my life with my mother, I have to make a long travel for help her ,she is really ill and she needs me .No matters what happens in my heart I have the possibility or the wish of find her alive but here is when the big problem appears...

Marcline: what is it mom? is too expensive to ride in bus 4 children and a woman?

Odile: well that's not exactly the big problem...  the trouble is that you and your brothers can't go with me and because of that I have to leave you for a time.

Marcline: WHAT? ... but I think that us...this can't be!!!! I think that we would travel all together as the family we are!, you are our mommy, you can't leave us! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME!

Odile: my dear please calm down, I have been feeling very bad recently and I know my mother too or even worst so please just listen me.....

Marcline: I will not listen anything you have to say ,I don't want you to go and leave me alone! my brothers will cry a lot with this new and now I will do it too.

Odile: darling I know this is hard but  my reasons about why I'm leaving are really important, I will not lave you  forever and maybe the time I will spend out will be just weeks or even days so please take care of yourself and also of your brother and of your sisters, you're too younger to understand why I'm doing this but I trust in you and in Manzelle Aurlie to take care between yourselves.

Marcline: but I'm going to miss you a lot... what I'm supposed to do?... but wait a minute did you say Manzelle Aurlie? the woman of the cotton fields will take care of us?

Odile: yes and I hope you obey her the same way you obey me , do what she says and please don't forget what I say before about your brothers. ok?

Final essay of "Christmas every day" by William Dean Howells

HOW MANY WE CAN RESIST?

In the long of the existence of the life, under the behavior of the man, always is seen the manifestation of aspirations, desires or requests by the human being, aspirations or tastes related to the need of this one of don't have the equivalence of a displeasure or anything that could disgust us , towards the man is always searching what can mean to he or she the plenty of his or her lives and tastes focusing again in the satisfaction as something basic on an individual level or aspect that we must take into account,  under this  enter in our minds the impetuous need of that everything arises or have to work according to our individual wills. but we it also enter in our minds the ideal that says that to have what you want in excess isn't good and not everything what is wished always is an own benefit, we must take care of what we want ,thinking in the consequences that express how it is not good to have everything, a point of balance must exist I believe between the perfectionism or human inconformity and also the conformity and stability of this one.so analyzing this concepts and wills here comes  my hypothesis: Which are the limits of the nuisance and of the displeasure in the human being, in the moment to possess everything wished.?

We can take the example of the tale "Christmas everyday" by William Dean Howells, that is just a reflect of this situation in the life of an energetic innocent little girl that at once  wish the eternity or the infinity of Christmas, this act was just because of her own individual wills, she doesn’t take care or think in her family, neighbor ,city or country, In the history after like a week of the same repetitive sequence of the Christmas ,the humanity was extremely tired and everything caused only for the selfish desires of a girl who was refused and negated of have her balance between the good and bad things of hers life, but later the discomfort of the rest of her environment  affect her and she makes questions and start to think later on  the benefits and consequences of what so intensely he had wished, in this part of the story the limits of disgust of a wish were understandable ,but also the quotes of the story later refer to a progressive discomfort by that situation.

“The little girl began to get frightened, keeping the secret all to herself, she wanted to tell her mother, but she didn't dare to, and she was ashamed to ask the Fairy to take back her gift, it seemed ungrateful and ill-bred. So it went on and on, and it was Christmas on St. Valentine's Day and Washington's Birthday, just the same as any day, and it didn't skip even the First of April, though everything was counterfeit that day, and that was some little relief.”- “Christmas everyday” by William Dean Howells.

Thinking now about the people or society in an aspect more realistic (remembering the problematic that comes or is made form by  our greed and satisfaction), if we had in a moment everything what we wish, we would not have limits, the hypothesis asks or establishes how many time  or how much we can support always of having everything to our feet, so well as already I said before if we take into account the greed and conformity that are locate in our  minds, with the desire or problematic we mention before,  the time that we would last or spend  with the same extensive benefits wouldn’t have limits and the limits we would define them only as the commonness of living with what we want, if nowadays in our corrupt society someone wishes massively all the money of the world two moments will exist of fail before this person in spite of the fact that his conformity and satisfaction, the first one of this fail moments would be the commonness of living that express as we can see the routine boredom of living like in case of the example with all the money of the world, this one derives another point of nuisance or failure that is the new search of the satisfaction.

We leave that boredom of something that so much we were coveting or wishing in a moment of past and replace it by another object that also motivates possession and desire, if these two failures are made with success and appear promptly in what we can called the " life dreamed " we would have a limit of the nuisance and of the displeasure that in the moment of possess everything wished we can have as it says the hypothesis, If we compare the desire of the girl of the eternal Christmas with that of the absolute discretion of the money of the world, we join them with the desire of an own benefit and the evident egoism, but clearly the intentions and up to purposes of both desires are different, the girl makes a wish for something innocent and magic that according to what the consequences announce gets lost, all magic evaporates of something that was extremely special in  past, Whereas the man of the common who asks for the absolute money is different, we can figured out that he does not ask or wish for anything good or special, because the money is associates with the power, and the power derives pride and I believe he (pride) is the father of all the faults and there must exist a point of overload or saturation between how negative or positive  we are, is it what reflects the boredom of his desire, the excess or overflow of something even of the bad customs or purposes disgusts, which now it wants to say that the limits and his capacity that we mention can be equal (in the way according to time in which they are demonstrate) or exhausting in the ages and desires of the persons in spite of the avaricious thing and conformist that one could have ,both the child and the man.

It is as well as according to the examples and according to the maturity or failure of taste for the perfect life, we understand that the quantity of time that we can last supporting ,it is the same for  the greedy conformists who can continue living through the "bad thing" that they wished without any problem but it will not be the same amount of  time for those who wished a supposed good, which  it is possible now to affirm is that it is not an eternal resistance or an eternal quantity of time  and if there exist limits at the time of the nuisance or irritation for the wished life, we find now that even what we wish we can’t support it or to last forever because it has limits and moments in which we got bored and fail or lose the true essence of life for living one it is supposed we are dreaming because it comes by a wish.

After read “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” story by Rudyard Kipling the problem or topic I can identify to form or make my hypothesis is the prejudice arising to the mongoose, the way across the take is judged and criticized because of its size and boldness, this is the problem that even the readers cause just about what we think we know and not only in this story, in"the sphinx   without a secret" by Oscar Wilde we judge the woman of the story by the version of the facts his lover, lord Murchison gives about her behavior, in the moment of think about her acts we think as the lord , that she is cheating him , but we did not expect the end that the story that even lord Murchison says about her, so taking into account this here comes my hypothesis, as humans or living beings is possible to just judge by the abilities or truly actions of a person and not by the appearances of it?.

This question is tricky because the majority of humans accept that this is not a problem, we think judge only by what we see is something good, but we can see we are making an stigma about one person only by how it looks in our minds, we are very spoiled to this actions, but I think judge by the abilities of a person is possible and in fact is how it should be our way of judging people, because all is not what it looks like, and always there  is a second version of the story, in the story "the sphinx without a secret" we look how this horrible custom is applied by a young man , the Lord Murchison with his lover, he think his lover was cheating he just to see how it mysterious and discreet towards others she was , and also he judge her judge because he found her in what is commonly thought would be a typical hotel scene of infidelity, leaving and entering alone with much discretion for anyone to see her, Lord Murchison thinks the woman she love had another man to be her clandestine lover.

before tell how the story ends at this point we see how the writer play with us and our minds to make us  believe that she in fact was cheating on him, but this is a lie, she wasn't cheating him, the only sin of this woman was to be obsessed with novels of mystery and darkness,and she liked to go alone to hotel rooms to read, with an indefinite appearance only by believe she was the super heroine of this own story,It was terrible how he judge her but it was worse that he realized too late that she was a good person when she was already dead. may be this was the new lesson for lord Murchison to doesn't judge by the appearances of his lover the next time. if he had asked her about her behavior or had heard and loved her for what she was ,he had never renounced it to her, after this we know that is is possible to judge a person by the abilities and behavior but only after we had lost that person ,or after there is nothing left to do to give us the the opportunity to meet a new person.

so it is truly possible to change our manner of judgment but with  many failures behind and at a high price, it is only possible if you take time to analyze and indeed socializing with a person, not just what we think of that person, it is possible if as human beings we are we have tolerance to not discriminate and accept what  beings of our same specie are,it is a matter of accepting no matter what and not to draw quick conclusions deliberately,rather we can say the story is a reflection of the wrongfulness of this problem and  of how ignorant we are for not wanting to help for end this problem that every day with so existing discrimination of whatever is growing.  

Now we can even say that the story is a reflection of this topic, because it shows us that the  woman was a good person and lover, everybody talks bad about her  but her acts weren't bad, they said she was the typical fatale female and the plane of the story make us believe that, but we as lord Murchison after se what was her end we learned the reason when it was too late, good for us that was only an story, but how do you will feel if this story would be your reality? would someone of us be able to judge that person by how truly is or by how it seems in our mind?. I really think that is possible, and it would simply be for private gain, grow and be better people each one of us, and also the benefit of the world and humanity.

After read “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” story by Rudyard Kipling the problem or topic I can identify to form or make my hypothesis is the prejudice arising to the mongoose, the way across the take is judged and criticized because of its size and boldness, this is the problem that even the readers cause because I the moment of search how is this animal and which is the form or the anatomy of a mongoose it is hardly to believe that an animal of this kind can beat a cobra as the story says, so taking into account this here comes my hypothesis, as humans or living beings is possible to just judge by the abilities of a person and not by the appearances of it?.

Now we can even say that the story is a reflection of this topic, because it shows us that the Mongoose at the end of the tale achieve its mission and protect those who love and defeat the cobra no matter what everyone else says about her, with no more than her teeth and capabilities, this is the hypothesis I bring out from the story, to find evidence or defenses if this is true or not we need something more else than read, because this problem is not only born in fantasy tales, rather we can say the story is a reflection of the wrongfulness of this problem and  of how ignorant we are for not wanting to help for end this problem that every day with so existing discrimination of whatever is growing.

Activity: Draw a cartoon explaining its structure.

1. (exposition):Is the first plane of the story , and it begin with a little girl in her's dad studio telling him she want to hear a story about Christmas and that she's tired about little pigs stories.
2. (event No 1):The story that the dad is telling starts with another little girl that likes Christmas to much that she decides to send letters to a fairy telling her that her wish was to make each day of the year the Christmas day, for stay forever in Christmas, so the fairy make that wish come true.
3. (event No 2):The dream of the little girl became true and each day in the morning when everybody woke up was again and again Christmas there with all the presents of everyone and the gifts that no one later will enjoy, only the little girl of the wish that eats candy each day more and more, and as that happens every day the time pass and pass, while a year was waste only in that little girls dream.
4. (event No 3):The citizens began to get tired about Christmas an as they start to get tired they began to get poor about  buying presents each day, so they became poor people that just were with a lot of stupid and usefulness gifts of Christmas, also about the eternal presence of Christmas the U.S.A citizens can't celebrate another holidays as the 4th of July or the thanksgiving, because all the stuff different from Christmas that belongs to another holidays transforms in Christmas stuff so they miss the fireworks of the 4th of July because the powder they keep convert in Christmas candy and in the thanksgiving  they miss the turkey at the dinning room because was just not enough for everybody in consequence of each day of Christmas , and also was too expensive because every U.S.A citizen by one each day so it was a big problem to get a turkey for dinner, sadly people just keep going with the annoying Christmas.
5. (climax):The little girl admit her full and completely fault about every day of Christmas that has pass, and the citizens accuse her as a really mess in the country, she and her wish were something each person in the country hates.
6. (event No 4):The little girl try to remedy her mistake sending letters about how she wish Christmas ends, talking to the the fairy that once make her dream come true,but this was in vain because the fairy never returns back any letter, so the little girl go to the fairy's house and discover that she was always busy or she was not at home for attend or hear her new wish for Christmas.
7. (event No 5):later on the little girl discovered or looked how the eternal Christmas was end and how was people celebrating that beautiful and amazing event burning everything related with the annoying Christmas, remembering how amazing was the U.S.A country.
8. (resolution):The little girl found the fairy and talk with her about her new wish that is to have the Christmas day only once in the year, and the good fairy again make her wish come true.
9.(event No 6):We return back to the dad that is telling an story to his little daughter in his studio, a moral story that has just finished and now both of them are ready to go and take their breakfast  with the mom of the girl and continue the road of the life.

THE IGNORANCE OF LIFE

Always we had seen that in the society there are different types of ignorance or stupid things of world that determine our situation, for example today just to see everybody with those stupid selfie sticks only worrying about how “beautiful” they are we understand that the society sucks and the future generations are condemned to an elitist future, or as another example of this just by see how many people left the knowledge or education in the oblivion replacing everything by the unstoppable wish of money, just with the excuse that even an ignorant can made something with his or her life and there is no time for education. This is so sad because if we remember the enlightenment there was a thirst of knowledge and the privilege of knowing almost how to read and learn was a really big treasure, so if today everybody is free to have education why not all do it?, And here the problematic born and from that it born a hypothesis, why some people prefer live in an ignorant society than have an education? My hypothesis say that first of all to our government is better to have stupid citizens who don’t react about what they are doing with our country and second is that since the last ten years with all the capitalism and new tendency of consumerism, the facts of have a good education or a complete knowledge are not consider as lucrative because why finish the school when you could be earning money?.

And I really think this is the truth about that because today the ignorance of the people is greater than anything, and yes everybody knows how to add and rest but if that is the case why there are some kids working outside? They could have education, or why there are a lot of dumb people that finding themselves without any knowledge recur to the violence or delinquency? We doesn’t know anything about what our life is and our real situation  because or we doesn’t care, we doesn’t  have money or we just think in money, this is why people could learn at schools or universities, the knowledge and the education give a better alternative about what we can be in a future. And also is just better to have knowledge and be smart than be plastic and dumb as a joke in the street. Now some context quotes.

These quotes of the story show how the main character was an ignorant in his life that just thinks in work more than in his education, at the end he doesn’t have better options for his live, in the first one he says that he only uses his natural intelligence so that mean that he was not a genius more than what he know because we wasn’t studying  when he can and his knowledge was limited, and the second one express how he replace intelligence to affront difficult situations by “the holy influence of his mother” and the church, just as a lot of people do because they doesn’t know.

The relation of this with Colombia is pretty simple because Colombia is one of those countries with the worst education of the world and is also a poor country, and there are a lot of ignorant people like farmers or just poor people that can pay for education. That know better only how to work manually than make an equation because is their culture (as the case of the man in the story oil dog) so the case is the same, there are a lot of people in Colombia that have diferents grades of ignorance’s as their manner of behave and culture, as the example of the ones that can have any education because they can pay it or the plastic and elitist people that are dumb for only worry about themselves and the stinging avaricious people that only cares about money. Colombia is an ignorant country too because the ones that have knowledge and education knows how is the country but doesn’t make anything for improve it.

So to conclude this we must mention again the importance of have a good knowledge and an education because both of them can open a large of doors of opportunities to us and make the world more conscious about what we are now and were we are going but also is sad to discover at the end that we are ignorant even when we can have education living in an world that need the idea I mention before for not be fooled by those who believe timely have an ignorant country, we must improve because “an ignorant people is the blind instrument of its own  destruction”

The literature in the web is an alternative for have in a physical way of the books ,is a good and cheap alternative that is getting stronger every day ,we can say that there is a struggle between literature on the internet and by the other hand the necessity of having in physical de book for  read it , a point that is in favor of the literature in the web are the free samples of any book and the pdf, the opportunity of download the book you were searching for keeping in your electronic device, but in the moment of choose randomly a book on the internet there are not many things that can guide or support you to buy a book, the internet doesn't specify or shows to the readers the plot of a book, it doesn't deliver a good synopsis for make the book or tale look more attractive and catchy to the readers, this is just the example of the web page "boo ganga" with the book "how the widow won the deacon" by William James Lampton.

The concept of this is the online marketing and the meaning to see this is just like as strategies or tools that make  methodologies used for promoting products and services or anything through the Internet, we must say that the free samples of a book are good techniques that invite us to buy the book but this is only when you know what is the book you want to read but in the case that I mention before the readers only have to conform with  the basic information about the book for example of which category or genre belongs, the author that wrote  it , the languages that haves , the date of the publication and number of  pages , also we can see an image of the book, but it would be better if they give or we can find there in the page more information about  the author some references of he or she, in another way to see this we can say that they limited themselves for not put effort into what they sell, they make us think that the book or the product does not have interest and it is better find some other page or alternative. the story develops  basically in a conversation between religious sisters that has as topic the recent relationship between a widow called Kate Stimson and the deacon Hawkins, this may be doesn't sound like the most attractive plot ever of a book but after read it I can say it is a good book ,the web site limits us and themselves  of an interesting book we can enjoy and now finally I think that buying a book in his physical adaption can't compare to have it on your phone, going to a library searching a book is just better than looking in a web site, in a library we have the advantage that any book speaks for itself there just with looking it by the back part, every book persuading you to buy it ,making asking you  what book is going to be the one who enter to your soul and heart forever, because I think that is what make books ,in a web site this dies because it makes books looks just like boring things.

Loyce, a man who discovers one day going to the work  a man hanging from a lamppost and also discover  that he is the only one who can see it  later on as the example of the hanging stranger  he discover that the society is basically manage by aliens that every time are around us and are our government and are in our future but all the people  just seems like if they didn't  care and just think that Loyce needs some mental help , Loyce is the only man in his city who notice this and recognize the truth in front of his eyes.

Here in Colombia we have many examples of the daily life that can be similar with this situations,  this is just like a murder in a neighborhood in Medellin or any place of Colombia  or the elections of the president, mayor or politician, in a murder in a neighborhood maybe everybody can knows who is the killer but just they don't tell anything or give help because they don't look that situation as a personal problem so they don't care even when they can  do something, sadly in this country we are used to see the problems and don't make anything for solving it, it is good for the government to keep in silence the people without any controversial voice they can hear to make the people wake up. and in the second example of the democratic elections here in Colombia we have the problem that a higher porcentaje of the citizens doesn't vote for chose a new president or mayor, they have the excuse of "every candidate is just a corrupt thieve that only steals our money" in some cases this is the true but if that high porcentaje stop being indifferent to choose our leaders and decided to vote would this make the change and show a good democracy demonstrating the people power  (the true democracy meaning) in the country because if we are not join to choose something that involve each person we are just letting our future to the an unknown trash, and maybe they must vote for every citizen have an acceptation about who is going to representing us,  as examples like this in our country we have many we can even go in past to the slavery times when humans intelligence was as a donkey intelligence ,at that time some people was conscious about  the horrible facts of slavery but they just keep in silence ,was just in the independence when the slavery comes down  and the independence was a revolution of people that do not ignore the aliens or the hanging man. everybody has the truth in their eyes but we just can call warriors the ones as Loyce  that have the truth also in their mouths, hearts and actions. but sadly if we remember and analyze the last part of the story only the warriors ends dead after all they fight, this is a reflexión of the story that tells that the briefs ones are the ones who die before everyone, a true  message for society. 

I really like this story because of the message that is behind of all, that calling of don't stay in silence forever for look and analyze in a good future the truth we deserve, no matter if is even the government or the same people who live with us in society the ones who doesn't want let us see it, human beings must be brave and vote , denounce and do not ignore the aliens that are masquerading as humans an also don't ignore the man hanged because by the end surrounding  the whole story and analyzing well the origin of he  we can conclude the hanging stranger is a sign that invokes the destruction of silence and tells us simply that something is not right and someone else in the past pay the consequences of realizing it .We do not know if some day we can become the hanging stranger.     

The Child's story by Charles Dickens

Activity: write a critique about it in a paragraph

This story by Charles dickens tell the relationship between an unknown traveler and the live of a men, since it was a child until he became an elder. this story is maybe a time line done by dickens to show the changes of the human across the time, how it changes always their interests and what he believe, it show us the natural path of the human being and  even provides or includes the marriage and the formation of a family as something essential in the life of an ordinary person ,on the other hand it also shows us that the love and work are fundamental for our lives and feeling complete and happy, all happening with the presence of an unknown traveler. The last part of the story develops with the biggest fear of a human, the death, making us think that it is here where only oblivion born, but just in the lines that are below we discover that this is false and maybe if we analyze what we can see as dickens perspective of live and death we can say that the death is just another union between people with another life and memories. The traveler who is the main character thinks that he has been gains and loses persons across his road, he doesn't release that he has been watching just a normal man growing and aging, but finally he knows its purpose which is to grow for live, and live to see others grow just like any Grandfather of the world, finally we discover who is the unknown traveler

.

 I consider that this is an amazing story because is an interpretation of something that happens every day in the front of our eyes, but we think other simple and banal things are miracles so we left far the amazing nature around us calling them ordinary things, as I say before I think that this story is a time line of the human being  live but taking into account everything we had read in this story we can say that the time is the only thing that can changes us, but also looking back in time we release who we are and what we can be in the future, what is necessary to improve or change  for everyone to feel good as the human being who is ,may be anyone in the world want to grow old but today we have more wisdom than yesterday and less than the one we will tomorrow ,who we are, where we are going and with whom we will be are our questions but dickens shows us that each person we will always have a traveler by her or his side , is by this I think this story is very good because variations of our lives were never exposed in that way we looked like fun , this story is excellent because  beyond be showing a path to follow shows a reality that not many people are able to accept, the beginning of life and the end of this.  

"The fish" by Antón Chéjov

 Activity: choose one quote explaining the relationship of culture and literature.

 

"You'll give us half a rouble for it presently if we oblige you. . . . A huge eel-pout, as fat as a merchant's wife. . . . It's worth half a rouble, your honour, for the trouble. . . . Don't squeeze him, Lubim, don't squeeze him, you'll spoil him! Push him up from below! Pull the root upwards, my good man . . . what's your name? Upwards, not downwards, you brute! This quote is an example of the relationship between culture and literature, the literature is the art of the written productions with an artistic or intellectual value, and culture is what  represent the people, culture is what influence them to take their decisions and in a philosophical manner of thinking culture is what make us, the culture in the literature takes part of the daily life events that happens around us, for get to the readers and make them feel confortable with what they are reading, for let them see between the lines and letters of a book, tale or whatever that they are reading something closer to its own reality and perspective to make them  understand better what is the topic about. The literature and the culture complement each other ,as culture takes part of the daily life, literature takes part of the culture as inspiration because culture is what make us and for example in the tale talking about the characters we can see that they have like simple works we can see in the countryside, Some worked with agriculture and animals and others with their own hands, so this mean that may be in their culture or in the region they live the works they have are the only sources of any income or cash that are more accepted and bring benefits, the example of this is in the quote because says that they will receive money for catch an eel-pout, we can have an idea of were and how they live by this and knowing this we have clear their culture, another thing that we can say represent the culture of the caracteres in the tale are the jokes they commonly used, as an example we can see in the quote the characters references of a merchants wife, we already know that this is just for the readers attention and entertainment for trying to show just one reality where everybody is inside, now after all this we can see how literature and culture can be one for the readers, for the ones that keep them both alive.

Type of literature and elements of "a defenseless creature" by Antón Chejov

From the three different types of literature that exist we can say that this tale belong to a primary maybe "simple" type of literature, because is a documentation of the events across some specific time. this can be a report or even a email, we can also compared the story with journals and newspapers which are examples of  secondary literature type but its better to say that the story is from the primary type of literature, the setting from the story is the bank, the three main characters are, Kistunov, a bank employer, Alexey Nikolaitch, another bank employer and pal of Kistunov and finally Madame Shtchukin, the woman who goes to the bank. The plot of the story develops in a woman transforming a normal day in a bank into a nightmare, this woman goes one day to the bank to solve a problem about her husband salary who is ill, the conflict begins when the employers of the bank tell her that the solution of her problem is not in a bank, so they try to convince her to go somewhere to a place in which someone related with her problems can help her, but the woman just annoys the employers making they go insane, so finally for solve all as the solution of the story we have that the employers give her the money she was asking for , this happens because the two employers were so tired and irritated about her, so as they can find another choice they give her what she wants, and that money wasn´t money of the bank, that was money of their own pockets and then when the woman looked well served and watch in her hands what she was claiming she left the bank, but at the next day she was there again claiming for something she already has.
